A Modern Space In A Moira Home
Previously, a window and door separated a small, dark kitchen from a cold and largely unused rear extension. The two spaces felt disconnected and underutilised. By removing this divide and installing underfloor heating with large-format floor tiles, we were able to unify the areas into one generous, flowing room, ready to accommodate our clients’ new kitchen.
The addition of wide patio doors at the rear introduced natural light into the space, creating a seamless connection between the kitchen and garden. What was once fragmented and impractical is now light-filled, welcoming and designed for everyday living.
Colour and lighting were carefully considered to ensure the space felt bright yet grounded. Farrow & Ball’s Plummet was chosen for the doors, adding depth and character without overwhelming the room. Fresh white walls and under-cabinet lighting balance the darker tones, ensuring the space remains open and airy throughout the day and into the evening.
The seating area and adjacent drinks preparation space were positioned to maximise views of the garden - a perfect setting for morning coffee or relaxed evening drinks. The layout encourages connection, whether enjoying quiet moments or entertaining guests.
A suite of Neff appliances enhances the sleek, contemporary aesthetic, including a Slide&Hide® oven, warming drawer and compact oven with microwave. The Villeroy & Boch Subway sink is paired with a Franke Olympus Spring tap, combining practicality with refined detailing.
The result is a reimagined space that feels effortless to use and entirely suited to the way our client lives.
