A Listed Landmark

Coleshill, Warwickshire

Renovating a listed home requires care, experience and a willingness to work with the building - not against it. For this project, our client wanted to transform their remarkable historic space into a kitchen that felt light, practical and entirely suited to modern living, without compromising the character of their home.

The space came with all the challenges you’d expect from a period property: uneven walls, dramatic timber framing and restrictions around what could - and couldn’t - be altered. Our role was to guide our client through these constraints and create furniture that fitted the space precisely, while making everyday life feel effortless. Because every Holme Tree kitchen is made to order, we were able to design cabinetry that worked around the building’s natural irregularities rather than forcing the room to conform. Storage was carefully planned to suit how the client uses the space, and appliances were integrated discreetly to keep the overall look calm and uncluttered.

Key design decisions were made with sensitivity in mind. A recirculating BORA induction hob avoided the need to disturb the listed structure, while considered colour choices helped counteract limited natural light, ensuring the kitchen felt warm, bright and welcoming throughout the day. Illuminated shelving introduced both practical lighting and a subtle focal point within the space.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with our client and their builder, offering guidance at each stage and ensuring every detail was thought through before manufacture began. This level of involvement allowed the client to feel confident and excited about their decisions, knowing their kitchen was being designed specifically for their home and lifestyle.

The finished result is a kitchen that feels completely at ease within its historic setting - thoughtfully designed, beautifully made and tailored to support modern living.
